OUR MISSION
PSE&G plans to run 65ft tall, 69kV high-voltage power lines through the residential streets of Cranford New Jersey. Along the route is Walnut Avenue School (grades K-2, with a dedicated special needs wing), the adjoining park at WAS where various children’s sports leagues play, Unami Park, Temple Beth- El Mekor Chayim, and Lincoln School (grades K-12). The lines pose significant potential health risks such as cancer and childhood leukemia, and will decrease property values up to 25%. Voltage on the lines will more than double and the poles will be laced with pentachlorophenol. In the EPA’s own words this chemical is “extremely toxic” in short term ingestion and is a “probable human carcinogen.” Our mission is to have the lines on a route that is least harmful and impactful to the residents of our town. These poles and lines do not belong outside the schools where our children learn, the parks where they play, or mere feet from where families sleep.
